About

Mirona Mara’s work explores the inner landscapes of the mind and the nuanced shades of human experience, driven by a continual search for raw, unfiltered emotion. With a particular focus on charcoal drawing, she investigates the materiality of mark-making while expanding narrative possibilities through stop-motion animation. Her practice moves fluidly between observation, memory, and imagination, creating immersive, layered experiences for the viewer.
Mirona studied art and journalism in Romania before continuing her academic studies in Ireland, where she relocated in 2003 and graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree in Fine Art. Across drawing, animation, and interdisciplinary experimentation, her work consistently interrogates the intersection of personal and collective histories, memory, and the emotional resonance of everyday objects.
